Object Name Basalt
Object Description Specimen is a stamped sample of basaltic lava, from Mt. Vesuvius. These pieces were sold as souvenirs. The specimen has been stamped with the words "LAVA DEL VESUVIO" around the perimeter and "RICORDO" in the center [Souvenir Lava from Vesuvius]. The opposite side includes a picture of the volcano with smoke/ash coming from the crater with the words "VESUIO / GITA AL" [Trip to Vesuvius].
