Object Name Serpentine
Variety Antigorite
Object Description Roughly rectangular specimen of dark green massive antigorite (serpentine) with a crust of dark brown matrix around it. The specimen has been cut and polished on one side. This sample is included in the Catalogue of the Collection of Minerals in the College of S. C. and can be found on page 67. It was a part of the college's original acquisition from Thomas Cooper in 1821.
