Object Description |
Small slab of gray to tan chalky limestone with a single skeleton of the fish Beryx sp. The head and tail are missing (broken off the slab). The vertebrae are preserved articluated, and dorsan and ventral fin rays are apparent with scattered scales covering the body area. Identified as Beryx lewesiensis, however that species has not been found to be valid in 2014. Although record in the Historic Catalog could not be determined, a handwritten historic label is associated with the specimen. |
