Object Name |
Elasmobranchii (indeterminate) |
Object Description |
Three isolated nearly complete shark vertebrae, and two vertebral fragments. Largest two are lamniform vertebrae; brown with narrow slit-like openings around the circumference. Largest is broken (roughly 1/4 is lost) and has markings where at least eight barnacles adhered to it, as well as an unknown encrusting bryozoan. These two specimens are associated with a label that refers to "Ashley" - probably "Ashley beds" of Tuomey 1848 (now known as Ashley Member of Cooper Formation). A third dark gray partial vertebra and two small tan fragments are also present. These represent carcharhiniform structure. |
