Object Description |
Six freshwater mussel valves, three complete specimens. The exteriors are dark brown to black in color and covered in growth lines. The periostracum on the shells is flaking especially near the umbos. Shallow muscle scars are visible on the interiors which are iridescent and light pink in color. The triangle shaped shells have rounded anterior edges and rounded posterior edges. The shells have large winged shaped shelves near their umbos. |
