Specimen is a fragment of a stalagmite with at least ten layers of fibrous calcite (satin spar). Microcrystalline calcite also forms a coating on a broken layer. This sample is included in the Catalogue of the Collection of Minerals in the College of S. C. and can be found on page 23. |
