Object Description |
Fourteen freshwater mussel valves, seven complete specimens. The exteriors are varying shades of brown and olive green and are covered with growth lines. The periostracum on the shells is flaking off, especially around their umbos. The interiors are an iridescent, silver to white color with very shallow muscle scars and no visible hinge teeth. The triangularly shaped shells have rounded anterior and posterior edges and small winged shaped shelves near their umbos. |
