Object Description |
Four valves of two complete freshwater mussel specimens. The elliptical-shaped valves are dark brown to brown in color, with an iridescent, silver to ivory color inside. The valves have silver interior nacre and a thick periostracum. The periostracum on the umbos of the shells is flaking off due to wear. The valves are elongated, covered with growth lines and striations, have shallow muscle scars and small hinge teeth. The valves have pointed posterior edges and rounded anterior edges. |
