Object Description |
This is a scissor-type musket ball mold. The handles curve inward slightly at the base. On one side of one handle a "20" is engraved to indicate the gauge of the ball the mold produces. A single rivet that's 1/4" in diameter holds the two pieces together. Just underneath the rivet on the handle side are a pair of nippers for trimming the sprue of a ball, left by a hole in the mold seam. The mold halves are barrel-shaped on the exterior and spherical within. On one side both mold halves contain half a circular hole which meet at the seam to allow molten lead to be poured in when held together. |
