Object Description |
Four valves comprising two complete freshwater mussels. The shells are brown to tan in color, with a thick periostracum that is flaking near the umbos. The exteriors also have growth lines, striations, and large nodules covering the valves. The interiors have an iridescent, silver nacre, deep muscle scars and large hinge teeth. The shells are circular in shape. The two smaller shells have a grayish, moldy appearance. The shells have rounded posterior edges and slightly pointed anterior edges. |
